What is a Hernia?


 

A hernia can occur to anyone and it basically occurs when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place.

 For instance, the intestines may break through a weakened area in the abdominal wall.

Many hernias but tend to occur in the abdomen between your chest and hips, but they can also appear in the upper thigh and groin areas.

Though hernia is a type of an ailment, but most of them do not immediately appear to be life-threatening but they do not go away on their own.

It may end up in surgery at times to prevent dangerous complications.

It is a sac formed by the lining of the peritoneum/abdominal cavity.

The sac enters through the hole in the stronger muscle region of the abdominal wall surrounding the muscle which is termed as fascia.

One of the most frequent location for hernia's is supposed to be the groin portion, which is observed in 9/10 cases of hernia.

An abdominal hernia occurs when an organ or other piece of tissue protrudes through a weakening in one of the muscle walls that encloses the abdominal cavity.

A hernia usually shows up as a bulge in the abdomen, upper thigh, belly button and groin areas.
